Hayward's MaxFlo line spans several generations, and the naming does customers no favours. The MaxFlo II and the MaxFlo XL / VS share some parts and not others, so the safest approach is to work from your model number.
MaxFlo II — SP2705 and SP2707 series
Model numbers: SP2705X7EE, SP2705X7, SP2707X10, SP2710X15, SP2715X20, SP2707X102, SP2710X152.
Contents: housing o-ring GMX600F, drain plug o-rings (2), lid gasket SPX2700Z4, diffuser o-ring SX220Z2, shaft seal SPX2700SA (also SPX1250XZ2C, SPX1250XZ2), lubricant, instructions.
MaxFlo XL and MaxFlo VS — SP2303 and SP2305 series
Model numbers: W3SP2303VSP, SP2303VSP, SP23115VSP, SP23520VSP, SP23510VSP, SP2305X7, SP2307X10, W3SP2307X10.
Hayward MaxFlo XL & VS Rebuild Kit
Contents: housing o-ring GMX600F, drain plug o-ring, strainer cover o-ring SPX2300Z4, strainer o-ring SX220Z2, shaft seal SPX2700SA, lubricant, instructions.
What's shared and what isn't
- Shared: housing o-ring GMX600F, diffuser/strainer o-ring SX220Z2, and the shaft seal SPX2700SA. That last one also fits the Hayward Booster 6060.
- Different: the lid seal. MaxFlo II takes gasket SPX2700Z4; the XL and VS take o-ring SPX2300Z4. This is the part people get wrong.
If your lid seal is a flat gasket, you have a MaxFlo II. If it's a round-section o-ring, you have an XL or VS. That single observation resolves most of the confusion without needing the model plate at all.
Before you reassemble
Every o-ring in these kits seats better and lasts longer with a food-grade silicone lubricant. Dry o-rings pinch, twist and take a set, which is how a brand-new seal starts weeping within a season.
Aqua Flex Food Grade Silicone Lubricant is what ships in our kits. Apply it to o-rings only — never to the polished faces of a mechanical shaft seal. Lubricant on the carbon or ceramic makes the seal slip, overheat and leak.
